Brief outline of training

High Pressure Water Jetting Operator certification coverstraining for personnel experienced in high pressure water jetting but requiringmore in-depth knowledge of high pressure water jetting systems, pumps, engines,safe equipment operation, managing worksites, safe work practices andassociated law, organising work permits, reading and interpretingplans/drawings and emergency and rescue practices. This course provides anoperator with the necessary knowledge to supervise a High Pressure WaterJetting project and be responsible for a crew of HPWJ Workers. To enrol in theMSMSS00018 students must have already completed the MSMSS00017 skill set andlogged 120 hours of supervised work.

This course is delivered in accordance with AS24233.1 2013 Part 1 High Pressure Water Jetting Systems Safe Operation and Maintenance and National Code of Conduct – Guide for managing Risks from High Pressure Water Jetting.

Who should attend this course

All persons intending to work with high pressure water jet equipment and Class B high pressure water jetting pumps requiring knowledge of the associated dangers, how to operate HPWJ equipment safely and supervise and maintaining the safety of HPWJ work personnel.

Please note this is not a designated manager’s course however due to the dangerous nature of high pressure water jetting, the equipment knowledge, the worksite setup, the safe work practices and emergency practices covered by this course provide the qualifications necessary to supervise a high pressure water jetting worksite.

Recognition of prior learning

Asset Training recognises accredited training by other Registered Training Organisations, work & life experience and previous training for the RPL process.

Applications for recognition of prior learning should be made via the online enrolment form.

Refresher training & verification of competency

Refresher training or VOC’s are available for this course and are required every 2 years.

Assessment

Assessment will consist of some written activities with multiple answer question format plus, a practical assessment covering the use of equipment and a practical test in high pressure water blasting.

Important Information

Evidence of prior training (Statement of Attainment) in either MSMWJ301 or MSMWJ304 must be presented at the time of booking to undertake the HPWJ Operator training. This evidence must be accompanied by a signed and dated Statutory Declaration declaring the completion of 120 hours of operation prior to the course.
